| IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ONTARIO RESIDENTS: The Ontario government has recently passed legislation that may affect the availability of flavoured tobacco in all forms. The intent was to limit the sale of sweet flavoured cigarillos that are supposedly targeted at youth. We would all agree to a concern here. However, this amendment to the Smoke Free Ontario act provides a loose definition for flavoured tobacco that may result in a ban to all flavoured tobaccos, not just those targeted (individual cigarillos) in this part of the Act. This should be a concern to all those who enjoy flavoured aromatic tobaccos or any other tobacco treated with a casing during its production. This amendment passed the house very quickly with very little opportunity for the industry to respond to its content and definitions. There is enough encroachment on our hobby without loose legislation being brought into play without reasonable discussion and consultation. |
